Once Human Adds Trading Purchase Orders and Monthly Challenges in Late-August Update

The update follows the pixel-styled 'Block Adventure' event and lands as the game expands to console.

Once Human, the open-world survival game from Starry Studio, received a late-August content update that adds a purchase-order system to player trading, brings monthly challenges to permanent servers, and changes how sign-up scenario servers open. NetEase distributes the update through the Steam client and its own launcher.

Per the patch notes, the trading change lets players post buy orders rather than only browsing what others have listed, which is aimed at smoothing a marketplace flow players had described as slow. The monthly challenges are a new recurring goal set for permanent servers, where players had asked for steadier objectives outside the seasonal scenario rotation. The update also adjusts the opening schedule and rules for sign-up servers across scenarios such as the Deviation survival mode and Prismverse’s Clash.

The drop follows the earlier August “Block Adventure” event, which reskinned an area of the map in a blocky pixel style with block-themed monsters, a boss the notes call the Block Wanderer, and matching furniture and weapon cosmetics. That event ran as a limited-time addition rather than a permanent change.

Once Human runs multiple parallel scenarios, each a self-contained seasonal survival mode with its own map rules and a defined end date, alongside longer-lived permanent servers where progress persists. Server-schedule changes matter for PC players who plan a fresh scenario start with a group, since a shifted opening time can decide whether a friend group lands on the same server. Players have also raised the mod acquisition system as an area needing work, and the studio says the update revises how mods are obtained on permanent servers. The update arrived in the same window as the game’s console release and cross-platform account linking, though the Steam version remains the lead platform.

What this means for players

  • Buy orders make the marketplace less of a waiting game if you are hunting a specific item.
  • Monthly challenges give permanent-server players a reason to log in between scenario seasons.
  • Check the new sign-up server schedule before organising a group start, as opening times have moved.
  • Console cross-play account linking is available, but PC remains the primary platform.
  • The “Block Adventure” content is a limited-time event, so treat its cosmetics and boss as time-gated.
