Everstone Studio and NetEase are winding down the “Hidden Mountain” content series in their free-to-play wuxia action RPG Where Winds Meet. Per the studio, the closing chapter is due in September and will add new bosses along with an extraction-style mode, following a new combat style earlier in the month.

Where Winds Meet is an open-world martial-arts RPG built around multiple switchable combat styles, crafting, player housing and lighter life-sim activities. The Hidden Mountain arc has been delivered in chapters across 2026, each adding story content and systems on top of the base game. According to the studio’s previews, the finale introduces open-field bosses that roam the world and an extraction mode in which players gather loot in a contested area and must leave safely to keep it.

The studio has also been promoting a milestone it describes as more than 100 million players since the game launched worldwide in late 2025. That figure appears to count everyone who has tried the game rather than active players, and NetEase has not broken it down by platform.

For PC players, Where Winds Meet runs on Windows through Steam and NetEase’s own launcher. Recent patches have included performance and optimization work for the desktop version, which matters given the size of the open world and the density of its towns. The addition of an extraction mode is a notable shift for a game that has so far leaned on open-world exploration and cooperative content rather than contested PvP loot runs, and how strictly it is tied to PvP will shape whether solo and co-op players engage with it. A new combat style, meanwhile, adds another option to a roster players can switch between mid-fight.

What this means for players

  • The September update closes the Hidden Mountain arc, so it is a natural point to catch up on that content.
  • The new extraction mode adds a contested-loot loop, which is a different risk profile from the game’s usual co-op play.
  • The 100 million figure looks like total players, not concurrent or active users, so read it as a reach metric.
  • PC optimization has been an ongoing focus; check patch notes if performance in dense areas has been an issue for you.
